Journalist Juliane Löffler invites us behind the scenes of her investigative work: She gives an insight into how research on abuse of power and sexualised violence is conducted and shows what it means if you dare to go public with allegations against often powerful men. What becomes evident is the courage that people affected, and journalists need to have time and time again as well as the difficulties in overcoming societal backlashes and stubborn narratives of guilt and shame. Löffler unveils the underlying structures based on numerous cases and interviews with people affected and experts. She showcases how, since 2017, #MeToo has grown to become a global movement, altered the societal discourse and created a new awareness. But in her analysis, she also sheds light on the risks of #MeToo and illustrates why systems of abuse of power have persisted until now.
