Amira Hass is an Israeli journalist, correspondent for the daily newspaper Haaretz (הָאָרֶץ) in the Occupied Palestinian Territory since 1991. Resided in Gaza between 1993 to 1997 and since then in Ramallah. She is also a columnist for the Italian weekly magazine Internazionale. In 2002, she received the Bruno Kreisky Prize for her contribution to human rights; in 2009, she was named Journalist of the Year by Reporters Without Borders (RSF) and in 2014 was also honoured by Reporters Without Borders as an Information Hero; she received the International Women’s Media Foundation Award in 2009 and the Columbia Journalism Award in 2024. She is the author of “Drinking the Sea at Gaza”.
