In his gripping, at times ironic documentary, urban planner and filmmaker Reinhard Seiß pleads for a fundamental transport revolution. According to him, that is key if we are to tackle the climate crisis, and reduce the consumption of land and resources. This film depicts the world of transportation dominated by motorised vehicles in all its spatial, ecological, economic and commercial aspects—as well as the root causes for the “system of cars”: Profiteers from the realms of politics and business, legal and financial frameworks the of transport, urban development and residential development as cause and effect. Seiß also showcases examples for a transport revolution: in Lienz in East Tyrol or on the island of Langeoog in East Frisia.
