A weekend with a view

Look closely at what is happening.

Program

For three days, journalists will meet other knowledgeable mediators of information from different regions of the world in Innsbruck. In conversations with colleagues and other experts, visitors find out what is going on behind the scenes of the information on international events, which is often hastily and superficially conveyed, and can contribute.

Current social, political and cultural developments are the focus of the debates, from book presentations, exhibitions, doc-films and audio features. The Journalismusfest Innsbruck opens a window to the complex present in which we live.

Heinrich Böll:

Katharina Blum meets the love of her life at a carnival costume party. But when her companion is unmasked as a wanted bank robber and outlaw, she herself is branded a gangster’s moll and murderer’s lover. Blum refuses to submit: she fights back against unfair interrogation methods, misogynistic attacks and aggressive gutter journalism. Subtitled “How violence develops and where it can lead”, Böll’s novella depicts a systematic attack on a respectable young woman by corrupt tabloid outlets and politicians who interfere with investigations and create alternative truths.
This Austrian adaptation by Hannes Pendl interprets the timeless masterpiece of Nobel Prize-winning author Heinrich Böll as a ruthless media satire.
