A weekend with a view

Look closely at what is happening.
Ilse Aichinger

Program

For three days, journalists will meet other knowledgeable mediators of information from different regions of the world in Innsbruck. In conversations with colleagues and other experts, visitors find out what is going on behind the scenes of the information on international events, which is often hastily and superficially conveyed, and can contribute.

Current social, political and cultural developments are the focus of the debates, from book presentations, exhibitions, doc-films and audio features. The Journalismusfest Innsbruck opens a window to the complex present in which we live.

Europe’s Digital Sovereignty:

Europe’s quest for digital independence has never been more important. Peace and freedom around the world are being tested, facing overt and covert attacks. The tech giants’ platform economy dominates audience reach and advertising markets, increasingly setting the agenda for public debate. To what extent are European and US notions of free media and speech drifting apart? And where are the shared European solutions that actually strengthen European cooperation?
Under the supervision of Dr. Natascha Zeitel-Bank from the Department of Media, Communication and Society, MA students at the University of Innsbruck have examined current developments to curate this panel.
