A weekend with a view

Look closely at what is happening.
Ilse Aichinger

Program

For three days, journalists will meet other knowledgeable mediators of information from different regions of the world in Innsbruck. In conversations with colleagues and other experts, visitors find out what is going on behind the scenes of the information on international events, which is often hastily and superficially conveyed, and can contribute.

Current social, political and cultural developments are the focus of the debates, from book presentations, exhibitions, doc-films and audio features. The Journalismusfest Innsbruck opens a window to the complex present in which we live.

Exploring Lebanon.

Author Robert Prosser from Alpbach, Tyrol, likes travelling to Lebanon time and time again, investigating and reporting on this multi-religious democracy, independent since 1943 and home to a population that has been suffering for many years: civil war, Israeli and Syrian occupation, the Islamist Hezbollah and now renewed attacks by Israel. Prosser’s “Beirut im Sommer” (2020) (Beirut in Summer) is an essayistic text-and-photo journal of a research trip with photographer Leonhard Pill, tracing the war in Syria and the situation of displaced individuals. In Prosser’s most recent novel “Das geplünderte Nest” (2025) (The Plundered Nest) a report about the Beirut graffiti scene evolves into a journey into the dark past of his own family. A conversation about fact and fiction – and Lebanon.
