A movement is gaining global momentum: the movement for nature’s rights. What if the bodies of water countered human interference with their needs and demands? What if they were recognised as legal persons, just like multinationals? They would be entitled to have lawyers represent them in court.
Three rivers will give testimony in this staged interrogation at the WCLW (World Council of Living Waters): Loisach (Tyrol and Bavaria), Isel (Eastern Tyrol) and Río Ulla (Galicia). Michael Riegner, jurist at the University of Erfurt, will question the rivers and comment on their statements; and – along with the audience – he will draft their final plea.
