Since the 1^st of March 2025, Katharina Christ has been a senior researcher at the German National Institute for Science Communication in Karlsruhe. She earned her PhD in Media Studies and used to be research associate at the University of Trier as well as the University of Innsbruck. In her research, she focuses on the intersection between science communication, social media, as well as visual and multi-modal communication. She has a strong interest in questions of media reception and impact, as well as the influence of platforms on communication. Katharina Christ is spokeswoman of the department Language in Media—Discourses in Media of the German Communication Association (DGPuK).
