Loneliness has been a human experience since thousands of years. In recent times, this issue has moved to the forefront: a lack of close interpersonal bonds, a non-existent social network and the absence of a community. Since the Covid pandemic, loneliness has also entered public and political discourse. We now know that an unexpectedly high number of adolescents struggle with loneliness. Alongiside psychological support services, the Austria-wide Plattform gegen Einsamkeit (“Platform Against Loneliness”) serves as an accessible contact point for people affected by loneliness.
