Marcela Turati (born in 1974) is a Mexican journalist who covers topics from a social and human-rights perspective. She works as reporter for the magazine Proceso and co-founded the network “Periodistas de a Pie“. With her series on the death of 14 migrants in the desert of Arizona, she became one of the finalists for the FNPI and Cemex New Journalism Award. For the coordination of the series on child day labourers she was recognized with the Latin America and the Millennium Development Goals Award by UNDP and IPS. After her publication of two reports on families joining forces in order to look for their missed relatives, she was bestowed with the Theodor Heuss German Journalism Award. On her quest for a journalism for hope and change, she founded the blog Periodismo de esperanza.
