Marguerite Meyer is a journalist, author and poetry slammer from Zurich. As a journalist, her focus is on politics and society. Her journalistic career began at the news agencies AWP and APA as well as in the newsroom of the Swiss public service media company SRF. After serving as editor-in-chief of the youth TV channel joiz Schweiz, she was Head of Multimedia of the multilingual platform SWI swissinfo.ch where she set up the audiovisual department.
She has been a freelance journalist for several years. Her mandates included the expansion of international reporting at the Swiss online magazine Republik and the editorial organisation of the media startup «Bajour». In 2019, she reported on the protests in Lebanon at “The Daily Star Lebanon” and for various media outlets. She is on the board of the Swiss street paper Surprise .
As a poetry slammer, she has been an integral part of the Swiss poetry slam scene for years. In addition to her own stage activities, she is involved in community building within the scene. She is co-founder of the transnational initiative “Slam Alphas”, which was honored in the UNESCO State Report 2020 as a civil society best practice “Diversity of Cultural Expressions”. Meyer has worked in Zurich, Vienna, Beirut and Tirana.
