A weekend with a view

Look closely at what is happening.
Ilse Aichinger

Program

For three days, journalists will meet other knowledgeable mediators of information from different regions of the world in Innsbruck. In conversations with colleagues and other experts, visitors find out what is going on behind the scenes of the information on international events, which is often hastily and superficially conveyed, and can contribute.

Current social, political and cultural developments are the focus of the debates, from book presentations, exhibitions, doc-films and audio features. The Journalismusfest Innsbruck opens a window to the complex present in which we live.

The New World Order

Women’s rights are human rights. But when the law of the strongest undermines the strongest rights and democratic values gradually lose their significance, girls, women and marginalised groups are on the losing end. Whether it is the Trumpists in the US, right-wing extremists in Europe, autocrats in the Kremlin or socialist dictators—they all strive for a new world order. And they combine their fight against the ones outside with a fight against the ones inside: the female and queer population.
A new world order—old patterns of suppression? What can women and queer people expect from the shift of the global power relationship? And how are these questions of humanity negotiated in media coverage?
