Under Trump, the US set their tracks for a democratic limbo. Nobody knows where this – will actually lead. Trump hazards the threats to the global economy caused by his tariff policy, backs out from the Paris Climate Agreement, the WHO, the United Nations Human Rights Council. He dismantles the agency for international development, USAID; he considers the Gaza strip a real estate project; he ponders about an annexation of Greenland. In the US, diversity, justice, and inclusion have grown to become disqualifiers—especially when it comes to governmental funding of universities and businesses. The judicial branch is being undermined, Trump abates those who violently stormed the Capitol; Elon Musk is committed to enforce the interests of the radically anti-democratic capital. Press freedom is being restricted. Press agency AP is banned from press briefings.
What is Trump aiming for? How far is he willing—and able—to take this erosion of democracy? Will the system Trump crash at a certain point? How big can the protests become? And what role can the media play?
