The human-rights advocate Ales Bialiatski, founder of the human-rights organisation Wjasna, has been one of the leading voices in the fight for democracy and the liberation of political prisoners in Belarus. Shortly after receiving the Nobel Peace Prize in 2022, he was sentenced to ten years in prison. In December 2025, he and more than one hundred other political prisoners were liberated. Today, he lives in exile.
The conversation will be accompanied by excerpts from the new documentary film “Bialiatski | Unbroken”(2026) by Belarusian journalist Alexandrina Glagoljewa, which traces the Nobel Peace Laureate’s journey and the long struggle for human rights in Belarus.
