Yaroslav Hrytsak is considered one of the most influential Ukrainian historians and intellectuals. With his book “Ukraine – Biographie einer bedrängten Nation” (“Ukraine – The Forging of a Nation”) published in 2024 in English and German, he provides the first up-to-date comprehensive overview from a Ukrainian perspective. The book became a bestseller in Ukraine. “Подолати минуле: глобальна історія України” (2022). Hrytsak dissects the myths of Russian propaganda, while keeping a critical eye on Ukrainian legends and exaggerations. He embeds Ukrainian history and present into Europe’s history and their global links. Time and time again, the author also takes the public stage to share his political analyses.
