Professor Ulrich Schaible is an expert in the field of infectious disease biology at the Borstel Research Centre, Leibniz Lung Centre, and serves as the spokesperson for the interdisciplinary Leibniz Research Network INFECTION. His research is centred on lung infections such as tuberculosis, with particular emphasis on the interactions between pathogens and the host’s immune system, drug resistance and new therapeutic strategies. Adopting a One Health approach, he combines the study of human pathogens, their environmental reservoirs, as well as environmental and social conditions in order to improve the prevention of zoonotic infections
