This investigation started with a massive dataset: over one million location requests, thousands of individuals observed in over 160 countries, including investigative journalists, public prosecutors and ministers. The data shows that surveillance company First Wap, founded by a Tyrolean, marketed their espionage system even for dictatorships and ignored or red lines. Towards the end of the investigation, the team sent an undercover reporter to infiltrate a surveillance fair as a potential client interested in First Wap. What he discovered there, and which leads lead back to Austria – for example to Red Bull and Wolfgang Ambros – are the subject of this conversation.
