Ingrid Fischer is President of the Alpine Town of the Year Association and Deputy Mayor of Sonthofen. Ingrid Fischer was born in Sindelfingen/Baden-Württemberg. In her early 20s she left her native town and moved to Sonthofen in the Allgäu. After more than 30 years as a senior MFA and manager of an internal medicine group practice, she took early retirement. The time freed up allowed her to serve as deputy mayor for Sonthofen, Fischer says.
Ingrid Fischer has been a member of the Sonthofen town council for over 20 years, and deputy mayor since 2014.
Her interest in politics “was awakened in the 1980s through involvement in the peace and environmental movement”. Ingrid Fischer has been a member of Bündnis90/Die Grünen since the late 1990s.
Since 2014, Fischer has represented the town of Sonthofen in the “Alpine Town of the Year” association, first as an association member, then later as an active member of the association’s board. Ingrid Fischer has been president of the association since December 2020.
