Julia Schafferhofer

Julia Schafferhofer has been working as a journalist for 20 years, and since 2010, she has been an editor at Kleine Zeitung, where she has worked in various departments such as health, magazine, science, city magazine G7, Graz, and foreign policy. In 2016, she arrived at her beloved department of culture and media, and since 2018, she has been a correspondent in Vienna. Born in 1981 in Weiz, eastern Styria, she studied political science and journalism in Vienna. Instead of completing her thesis, she preferred to write journalistic texts. She serves as a juror (including for the Romy and Nestroy Prize), participated in the 35th Screenplay Workshop in Munich/Styria (2023/24), and is a board member of the Columna V association, which advocates for a trust center against harassment and violence in the media industry. In her free time, she enjoys long-distance hiking, especially with mountain lakes along the way.
