In 1992, Uwe Steger graduated in political sciences from the University of Innsbruck. During his studies, he worked for different marketing agencies, and from 1994 onward, he was responsible for setting up and leading the office for public relations at the University of Innsbruck. Between 2004 and 2008, he transferred to the Medical University of Innsbruck, where he was again responsible for the installation of the office for public communications. Since 2008, he has been back in the Office for Public Relations of the University of Innsbruck. This office is not only responsible for traditional press and public-relations work, but also for imparting scientific knowledge with a broader audience, events, study guidance, marketing efforts for study programmes, as well as web services.
Uwe Steger is co-founder and chairman of UNI.PR (Network of Public-Relation Staff at Austrian Universities) and incumbent vice-president of EUPRIO (European Association of Communication Professionals in Higher Education). Between 2011 and 2013, he worked as a consultant to the Austrian Minister of Science.
