Rebecca Sandbichler, born in Innsbruck in 1988, is editor-in-chief of the Tyrolean street paper 20er. At 19 she moved to Darmstadt to study online journalism, where she then managed a self-founded student magazine, received an ADC Newcomer Award for her international blogger bookazine CIRCUS and was responsible for the corporate publishing unit of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. After the birth of her third child, the young family finally returned home to Tyrol.

When working as a freelance journalist for German-language quality newspapers and magazines her focus has always been on socially and ecologically committed journalism: as a member of the US Solutions Journalism Network and as a moderator of debates in the climate and culture sector.

Her daily work with people from marginalized groups has given Sandbichler a new understanding of responsible reporting. In 2021/2022, for example, together with the city of Innsbruck, she announced the international documentary photography prize “Korridor” on the topic of flight and migration, which resulted in an exhibition and a special issue. Rebecca Sandbichler is also passionate about training young journalistic talent and creating equal opportunities in editorial offices.
